Hey everyone! Hope you have a had a great week.

It's Friday again and before I give you a great tune to listen to while you try to make it to the weekend, I have a couple of things to share...

It's another Friday but instead of a song that I have been listening to all week, I wanted to post a song that you may or may not have heard but is very powerful, especially with today being Remembrance Day.

The Highway of Heros is a tradition to honour our fallen soldiers that I feel gets used too often.

Lest We Forget, not just today or every November 11th, may we always remember the bravery and sacrifices of a few, for the freedoms we have and so many take for granted, all the days of our lives.

We haven't heard too much from Classified over the past few years but he is out with, what I think is GREAT song!

It has a good melody, a little rap/hip hop feel, and the message is one that everyone should listen to.

I remember when I was young and did not get along with this other kid for years because of something so small and simple in the grand scheme of things.  This songs reminds me that we as humans make mistakes and in order to move forward, you have to "forgive and forget" a lot or you end up stuck in neutral.

Sorry folks about not writing a blog last week as it was Good Friday. I hope everyone enjoyed their Easter, however you celebrated.

Hey it's Friday!! Time for another video....

This is a big weekend for me and a lot of people in Parry Sound this weekend with Bowling for the Moose tonight at Georgian Lanes (free shoe rental for mentioning the Moose), Saturday is the finals for both the Industrial and Sportsman hockey leagues (Dance and drinks at the BOCC after) and Bingo Bowl in support of Special Olympics!!

So I wanted a big, pump up song to get you all through but I couldn't use my stand by: The Cure - It's Friday, I'm in Love because someone said it was THEIR Friday song and accused me of stealing it...(Thanks Veronica!!)

It's a beautiful song that talks about something that happens all too often. I'm sure we've all had someone close to us, whether family or friend, that has died at a very young age and this song, to me, really works as a way to think about how they would want to be spoken about and a look at how they might have felt about their death.

Is it just me or is it that everything that David Guetta touchs, turns to GOLD! I love this song and Guetta has been putting out the best club tunes for the past couple of year!

The video is amazing as well with its creativity!! The original video is the "Day" version. When you hit replay (and I know you will because this is a great song) click on the screen to watch the "Night" version!

Keep it up David Guetta...as much as I love THIS song, I can't wait for the next one you put out!

Song of the Week #7

The latest single from P!nk is a power and catchy song with a video that is very......real!

The interesting thing about the video is that I saw it played on one of the music channels on television and the only part that was changed or omitted (other than the swearing being muted) was the scenes of the razor blade from 2:20-2:45. Everything else was shown including the word "PERFECT" carved into her arm and the blood all over the tub.

This is not the first video of it's kind to bring suicide and teenage problems to the forefront but I wonder if showing these images is a good thing or a bad thing. I mean, violence is blamed on the news and video games because of the images they see...isn't this the same thing? Are these images giving people an idea that they might recreate in their own life?

All in all, I think it's a great song with an insiring message and the video is a good way to paint the picture of how some kids grow up and how hard it is to fit in sometimes. I just thought I'd see what everyone else thought about how far the images go.

I am proud to call Justin a fellow Canadian and while I can't really say I enjoy his music, he is making huge waves in the international music industry and collaborating with many other big names in the Pop/Hip Hop world right now including Ludacris, Sean Kingston, Usher and in this video, Will Smith's son Jaden.

The movie Never Say Never opens today in major theatres across the country as well as here in Parry Sound!  If you see it, drop a line and tell me how it was because I likely won't be seeing it!

Song of the Week #5

Censorship in music has been a topic for a very long time and many videos over the years have been banned, censored, or had to be changed.

I don't know about you, but I don't feel that this is that bad. I have seen MUCH worse things portrayed in rap videos and dance videos, like look at this latest video from Enrique Iglesias:

I think this video is dirtier than the Rihanna song! There is more nudity and portrayal of sex in Enrique's video AND the song is clearly about just having sex!

Maybe it's because Rihanna's song is about a different kind of sexuality...

I seriously don't get the western culture's views on sex and sexuality. We are so afraid of the naked body and what we do with it when in reality, even the things that are perceived as abnormal in society's eyes are problem closer to normal behind closed doors than we really think!

My first question is, "Does her father know about this" or is this some kind of response to her getting grounded for something? I CAN NOT BELIEVE someone would record and release this song, not to mention the video...really?

It just goes to show you that in today's entertainment world, all you need is famous parents! And if you don't have famous parents, just drink underage and do drugs and be in and out of rehab!! I've seen both work in the last 10 years!!

Will, your Fresh Prince highness, please ground your daughter from EVER making another song and music video. I know (I mean I hope) you had nothing to do with this!

Sean "Puffy" Coombs, P. Diddy, Puff Daddy, Diddy and now Diddy - Dirty Money. No matter what you call him, he has a fantastic music career collaborating with top artists and even finding some new talent along the way.

My only problem with Sean's (I'll use his GIVEN name) music is that it seems EVERY song he records is about the loss of Notorious B.I.G. I mean I realize that the two were really close friends (I mean, I've seen the movie Notorious...) but there has to be other topics he can sing about. I mean, it was almost 14 years ago!!

This song is one that I do like, I just wish we could get a song from Diddy - Dirty Money that doesn't let us know how much he misses Christopher Wallace.

I know I said that I would be doing one of these per week but I just had to post this one. You know when you see a video or hear a song that instantly reminds you of a specific time in your life and you just have to share it with someone? Well this one is EXACTLY that!

Song of the Week #1

Hey Everyone,

I'm James King from MooseFM 103.3 in Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada! Working at a radio station, I'm around a LOT of music and even though our radio station plays the Greatest Hits of ALL Time, we don't play everything that everybody likes. In fact, to be honest, I don't even listen the station all the time... I have other musical tastes as well.

I've decided to start a blog where I allow anyone who reads it a little insight into the music I like to listen to on a regular basis, new music, bizzaar tunes and anything that I just feel like posting.

I'll be posting a link to a new song and video every week and describing why I have chosen that song and or it's video. Each song (at the time of posting) will NOT be a song from my radio station's playlist...or least for the most part! If I'm feeling a Moose tune, you'll know about it!

This is a very catchy tune and a great video. The song is a little depressing depending on who you are in the lyrics, the man or the woman. The girls is saying that she wants nothing to do with the guy but be friends. The assumption is that the guy is really into her. That's what makes the video so great! It seems that the video is random and has no connection to the song but in the end it's perfectly clear; they're telling the same story! Throw in Bob Sinclair (another artist who records similar music) and an appearance from tennis number 3 ranked Novak Djokovic and you have a recipe for video gold!
